Living in this graceless world of distractions and demands, it's easy for us to get caught up living as a citizen of this world. Before we know it, we've forgotten who we are in Christ. God has purposed that each one of us share the Good News of Jesus Christ with each and every person that we know. God has gifted each of us in various ways to accomplish that task. And, he has commanded each one of us to do just that.

Missions Weekend 2008 will challenge each one of us to reach one for Christ. Our weekend worship services will feature guest speaker, Dr. Frank Page, pastor of First Baptist Church, Taylors, South Carolina, and former president of the Southern Baptist Convention. Breakout sessions after the Saturday evening and first two Sunday morning services will be lead by missionaries who are serving locally, nationally and internationally. A Missions Fair will take place before and after each service on the Island Campus. Finally, a guest missionary will bring the message during the Sunday Sunset worship service at 6:00 p.m., October 19.

Our goal is to share the love of Jesus Christ through the warmth of well-trained, docile and loving dogs to those in nursing homes, hospice care facilities, hospitals and children's homes in St. Johns County on a regular basis.

CANINES FOR CHRIST TRAINING
All participants must be trained and certified in accordance with program guidelines:Patient EtiquetteAnimal FamiliarizationApplication of Dog HandlingDog Testing

WOMEN'S BIBLE STUDIES 6 - 8 p.m. CLC - Room 202

Leaders: Linda Fedak, Maria Gottfried, Kim Revis, Sylvia Woodard, Judy Tripi, Donna Ott ALL STUDIES STARTING September 3, 2008

Stepping Up": A Journey Through the Psalms of Ascent

                                        by Beth Moore

Through an in-depth look at Psalms 120-134, participants in this study can pray, reflect, and write a personal rendition of these ancient choruses. Themes such as unity, joy and gratitude, redemption, repentance, the power of blessings, facing ridicule, and more are explored in detail. Modern-day believers can learn much from these Psalms in their journey toward greater intimacy with God.************************************************************ Fingerprints of God:Recognizing God's Touch on your LifeBy Jennifer RothschildSTARTING October 22, 2008

This 6-week interactive Bible study for women exposes the wonder of God's touch upon our lives. Participants will discover that when they experience God's touch, they will recognize six things: honor, intimacy, shelter, guidance, redemption, and refinement. And just like clay in the skilled hands of a potter, God's touch molds us and shapes us from glory to glory. Encouraging, practical, engaging, and challenging, this study communicates Jennifer's personal experience in receiving and giving the touch of God. *****************************************************EXPERIENCING GOD: Knowing and Doing the Will of Godby Henry & Richard BlackabySTARTING September 3, 2008God is inviting you to experience Him in an intimate love relationship through which He reveals to you His will. His ways, and His work. Through the biblical principles in this course, God can teach you how to:know when He is speaking to you; recognize HIs activity around you; respond to His activity in your life. For more information, contact Judy Tripi (904-797-4042)**************************************************************Concurrent Children's Activities6-8:30 p.m. - Nursery for birth - 3 6-7 p.m. - Kids Praise! for age 3 (by Sept. 1) thru 5th grade 7-8 p.m. - Mission groups for age 4 thru 5th gradeFor more Information about any of these Studies, please call Judy Tripi at 797-4042

No need to RSVP - just come with a side dish or dessert to share with others, and a dollar or two to help with the cost of the meat and drinks. First time guests are just that, our guests. Please, don't feel obligated to bring a dish.

"There is more power in 1 minute of prayer than an entire year of worrying." Chuck Swindoll

Ladies,

Prayer is probably the most underused privilege we have. Jesus prayed, and He told us to pray.

We have an email Prayer Ministry and would like you to join us in prayer whenever an urgent prayer need is brought to our attention.

It does not involve any meetings, etc. Just your commitment to pray when you receive an email prayer request. It is usually when someone is ill or has an urgent need that needs to be prayed for.

Please email me, Nancy Miller at nmiller163@cfl.rr.com and ask to be put on our POP list. Please be sure to include your name in your message. Thank you.

We have had many answers to prayer and are expanding this ministry as The Lord leads.

If you know anyone who would like to participate, please pass this message along.

Someone said if people really understood the full extent of the power we have available through prayer, we might be speechless.

Prayer is the most powerful asset we have.

1 Chronicles 7:14: 'If my people, which are called by my name shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from Heaven, and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.'

Please plan now to make it to our monthly Memory Moments scrap booking days because it won't be the same without you. We all have a number of projects going on from baby albums, vacation albums, wedding albums or just a little bit of them all. We usually have a few snacks to keep us going and everyone once and awhile go for a Starbucks run. In our devotions this year we will be learning about the ABCs of Christian Living: Joy, Obedience, and Friendship are just a few. I pray that each of these devotions will allow God to show each one us how we can apply these points to our lives and that we share and grow with each other in Christ throughout our evening together.

The fun starts at 7:00 pm in rooms 143 & 145 (in the modular building behind the church). Don't miss the upcoming dates:June 6th, July 11th, August 15th, September 12th, October 10th, and November 7th.

In a fast-paced, stressed-out world, we all need time to unwind, and possbily unload, say...on a softball, tennis ball or golf ball. Not only do we provide opportunities for this, but those times of stress release give us the chance to fellowship with other believers and share the love of Christ with others in the process.
