Body Sculpting is a strength training workout that combines flexibility and cardiovascular conditioning to shape and tone the body without building muscular size or bulk. Body Sculpting is highly recommended to those enrolled in a weight loss program because it helps retain lean muscle tissue while boosting metabolism. Any fitness level can enroll.
Our weight training exercises are easy-to-learn and are performed stationary, having no impact on the joints -- unlike aerobics and dance-type workouts. Participants also see results three times faster because weights are used to stress the muscles. Body Sculpting also helps to prevent osteoporosis.
How does Body Sculpting differ from aerobics? Besides the obvious - no dance routines, jumping, or jazzing -- strength training, not aerobic exercise, is the most powerful activity in the fat battle.
Strong, toned muscles increase your metabolism and burn calories far more than aerobic dance sessions, walking or stair climbing. And although these activities are valuable for strengthening the heart and lungs, they are minimum contributors to weight control. With Body Sculpting, you receive a cardiovascular and fat-burning workout.
ABC member Katy Gillis, Personal Trainer and Certified Sports Nutritionist, leads this class.
